Team Two Newsletter
Term Four, 2015

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Welcome back to term four. We hope that you have all had a happy and relaxing two week break.

The students have made an enthusiastic start to our final term and we look forward to working with them once again.

This term classes will participate in an integrated studies inquiry called ‘Cultural Connections’. Learning experiences will be implemented through Social Science and The Arts. Understandings will be developed about the way people express and celebrate aspects of culture in different ways.

Literacy programmes will continue to engage students in a variety of tasks that develop skills through reading, writing, oral and visual language. Many of these tasks have direct links to the integrated studies programme.

The mathematics programme will centre on developing a range of skills within the contexts of statistics, geometry and measurement. Number knowledge, addition/subtraction, multiplication/division and proportions and ratios will be taught as needs dictate.

The students will participate in physical education sessions that focus on running, jumping and throwing. The purpose of this unit is to develop skills that can be used in everyday situations and as preparation for athletics day. Physical activity sessions will continue each week.

Homework tasks will focus on reading, spelling and basic facts with the possible addition of some personal research to assist with areas of interest relating to the integrated studies topic.

As we move towards the warmer weather students will be required to wear their named sunhats outside every-day.

A reminder that the school day begins promptly at 9.00am. A handbell is rung at 8.55am to indicate to the students that they have five minutes left to organise themselves. Classrooms are open to the students from 8.15am onwards – they should not be arriving before this please. Late arrivals must report to Jenny Watson.

Some Important Dates:
• School Athletics Day: Thursday 12 November
• The Glamorgan School poetry competition: Thursday 26 November
• Team Two Assembly: Friday 27 November
• Team Two Cultural Celebration: Tuesday 15 December

Thank you once again for your continued support. It is very much appreciated. Please contact your child’s class teacher in the first instance should you have any queries or concerns. It is important to keep the home/school partnership alive for the benefit of your child and their learning.

Kind regards
