Dear Everyone,

Welcome back after a wet blustery holiday for those who were in New Zealand!  We hope everyone had a good holiday.

Our topic this term revolves around being aware  that each country has it’s unique culture but we are linked by participating in global events. This will involve learning about the Olympic Games and  consequently running our own mini Team Three Olympics.  We will  look at games and sports around the world and then design our own games.  In addition to the cultural aspect we will be learning about New Zealand geography.

The children will be attending an introduction to Kelly Sports on Thursday 28th July.  This is a different organisation to Kiwisport and is designed to develop physical skills through a variety of fun activities. Children will be given a pamphlet providing extra information about these after school sessions. These are run by Kelly Sports and not affiliated to the school.

Our main community event this term is the Variety Show which is held in the last week of term. More details about this will come home closer to the time.

We ask for your continued support with homework. Each class has their own homework organisation. If you are unsure of where to find your child’s homework, please see your child’s teacher.  Mathletics, spelling and reading are the main priorities for homework.

A message from FOTS : Families are asked  to please donate a small item for the raffle hampers for our fundraising Quiz Night coming up in a couple of weeks.  We are looking for pamper items, luxury food/wine items and/or sweets/chocolates/treats to put together hampers for the raffles. You will hear more about this in the FOTS newsletter coming out this week.

As usual, if you have any concerns or celebrations, please email us.

Sincerely
