Health Survey
Thank you to all those who completed the Health survey last term. Your feedback was appreciated. It was clear from the feedback that the vast majority of respondents agree with the curriculum as it currently stands and the school’s current delivery of the Health part of the New Zealand Curriculum as described in the survey. We will be looking at resources for the sexuality education section of the curriculum for our year 5 and 6 students including pubertal change as something we can offer to families and children in the future.
Junior Athletics Day- 5, 6 and 7 year olds next Thursday 9th November
Athletics for 5, 6 and 7 year olds is Thursday 9th November (Tuesday 14th November if it rains) from 9:15am on the school field. Parents are welcome to come along and watch. Sprints will start at 9:25 to find the 5, 6 and 7 year old finalists and field events will be after morning tea starting at 11:10am. Sprint finals will be held from 1:25pm onwards along with the rest of the school on Wednesday 15th November, save day Friday 17th November. Parents will be notified if their child has reached the sprint finals.
Senior Athletics Day 8-11 year olds
This year’s athletics day for all children 8 years and older will follow the timetable below on Wednesday 15th November or save day Friday 17th November. The whole school comes together at 1.25 p.m. for the sprint finals.
Please ensure your children wear appropriate clothing for the day – hats, shorts, sun block, a top with short sleeves etc. have a water bottle at school, and have their asthma inhaler if necessary.
Sprint finals will go from the Room 16 end of the field towards the far bank where parents and family can sit and watch. During the sprint finals we would appreciate you all stepping back from the finish line and remaining on the bank so the staff can clearly see the children when they cross the line.
Pool Key Sales
The school pool will open for the 2017/18 season on Friday 1st December and close on Thursday 29th March. Pool keys can be purchased from the school office at a cost of $140 per key which includes a refundable $20 key bond and will give access to the pool after school, at weekends and during the school summer holidays. Keys will be sold to current school families first and if any remain then to the local community. School families may purchase a key from Monday 13th November and the local community from Monday 27th November.
Dogs at school
A reminder that dogs are not allowed on school property. Please make sure your family knows as we have quite a few children turning up to exercise their dogs on the field after school and once again we find dog poo left behind. This can cause serious disease in children if they touch it and then rub their eyes etc.
