Term 4 – 9am Monday 16th October to 1pm Tuesday 19th December
Kia ora koutou. Hello everyone.
Whole school Assembly
Team 4 will lead our whole school assembly at 2pm tomorrow Friday 10th November in the school hall. You are all welcome to come along.
School choirs
Many congratulations to our school choirs who both performed this week; the Kids4Kids Choir at the Bruce Mason Theatre in Takapuna as a part of the Kids4Kids Concert and the APPA Choir at the APPA Choir Festival at the Auckland Town Hall. A couple of week’s ago the APPA Choir also performed at the Town Hall and Bruce Mason Theatre as a part of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra’s Film Favourites concert series. Both events were fabulous and the choirs represented the school brilliantly.
Our thanks must go to teacher Nicola Couch, who trains the choirs, for her endless enthusiasm and passion. Nicola is a talented musician herself who plays for the Auckland Symphony Orchestra and she has given the children wonderful opportunities to perform in front of a live audience this year. It is a credit to her that the children develop the confidence and self belief to perform to a very high standard – and have fun at the same time! Well done to all those involved and thank you to the parents who have driven their children all over the North Shore and Auckland to perform this year and helped out at the concerts.
Calendar Art
In term 3 the children produced artwork that was sent to Abacus and can be turned into calendars, cards, diaries, mousemats and notepads. If you missed the first order now is your final chance! A second order has opened and your child will have a flyer in their bag today with their unique code so you can view and purchase products if you wish to. Orders close on 26th November. Please do not send money to school – all payments are through Abacus as per the instructions on the flyer.
Senior Athletics Day 8-11 year olds
This year’s athletics day for all children 8 years and older will follow the timetable below on Wednesday 15th November or save day Friday 17th November. The whole school comes together at 1.25 p.m. for the sprint finals.
Please ensure your children wear appropriate clothing for the day – hats, shorts, sun block, a top with short sleeves etc. have a water bottle at school, and have their asthma inhaler if necessary.
Sprint finals will go from the Room 16 end of the field towards the far bank where parents and family can sit and watch. During the sprint finals we would appreciate you all stepping back from the finish line and remaining on the bank so the staff can clearly see the children when they cross the line.
Pool Key Sales
The school pool will open for the 2017/18 season on Friday 1st December and close on Thursday 29th March. Pool keys can be purchased from the school office at a cost of $140 per key which includes a refundable $20 key bond and will give access to the pool after school, at weekends and during the school summer holidays. Keys will be sold to current school families first and if any remain then to the local community. School families may purchase a key from Monday 13th November and the local community from Monday 27th November.
Crossing on Glamorgan Drive
We still have parents crossing Glamorgan Drive before and after school right on the brow of the hill by the entrance to the drop off zone. This sets a very bad example to the children who are copying this behaviour and cars cannot see them as they drive up towards the school. One child was running after a family who were crossing there this week and a car had to brake sharply to avoid hitting them. We are constantly telling the children they should never do this and use the pedestrian crossing instead. We understand this takes a few more minutes of your time but please set an example for other children, not just your own, so they stay safe on their way home from school.
