Term 4  ends at 1pm on Tuesday 18th December

Term 1 2019 begins at 9am on Thursday 31st January 2019

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

School Choirs

Many congratulations to our school choirs who both performed recently; the Kids4Kids Choir at the Bruce Mason Theatre in Takapuna as a part of the Kids4Kids Concert and the APPA Choir at the APPA Choir Festival at the Auckland Town Hall. Both events were fabulous and the choirs represented the school brilliantly.

Our thanks must go to teacher Nicola Couch, who trains the choirs, for her endless enthusiasm and passion. Nicola is a talented musician herself who plays for the Auckland Symphony Orchestra and she has given the children wonderful opportunities to perform this year. It is a credit to her that the children develop the confidence and self belief to perform to a very high standard – and have fun at the same time! Well done to all those involved and thank you to the parents who have driven their children all over the North Shore and Auckland to perform this year and helped out at the concerts.

We still have one concert coming up with Auckland Symphony Orchestra and wish the Year 6 Choir the all the best for this performance.

A reminder that children are not supposed to be at school before 8:15am in the morning. Before then teachers are busy preparing for the day ahead and in various meetings.

We are also pleased to announce and congratulate our winners for the top selling places and returning the money on time and they are:

1st place: Reece Yates from room 13, sold 9 boxes and won the Amazon Fire 7 and vouchers to Rainbows End.

2nd place equal: Ollie Ward from room 8, sold 4 boxes and won the Fitness Tracker.

2nd place equal: Mikayla Pooley from room 11, also sold 4 boxes and won the second Amazon Fire 7.

We extend a big thank you to a number of people who volunteered their time and helped to make this fundraising a success. We couldn’t have done this without your involvement.

For people who still have chocolates can you please sell these quickly and get the money/unsold chocolates to the office immediately as they are now overdue.

Senior Athletics Day 8-11 year olds (hopefully this will have gone ahead today!)

This year’s athletics day for all children 8 years and older will follow the timetable below on Thursday 15th November or save day Friday 16th November.  The whole school comes together at 1.25 p.m. for the sprint finals.

Please ensure your children wear appropriate clothing for the day – hats, shorts, sun block, a top with short sleeves etc. have a water bottle at school, and have their asthma inhaler if necessary.

Sprint finals will go from the Room 16 end of the field towards the far bank where parents and family can sit and watch. During the sprint finals we would appreciate you all stepping back from the finish line and remaining on the bank so the staff can clearly see the children when they cross the line.

Walking School Bus at Glamorgan School

Keen to make the school drop off/pick up easier and stress free?  Check out the Walking School Bus.

A walking school bus is a group of children who walk together to/from school with parent supervisors along a set route.  Parents take turns and shouldn’t need to walk more than one day a week.  The other 4 days are free.

The children have fun, socialise with other kids and arrive at school on time.  It’s also a healthy way to get to school and reduces congestion at the school gate.

If you are interested in finding out more about Walking School Buses, come along to the staffroom on Tuesday 13th November at 9:00 am.

If you can’t make this time but are interested, please contact Lisa McLean lisamclean@glamorgan.school.nz
