welcome to school

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone

Welcome back to term 4 and welcome to all new children and families that joined our school community this term.

Enrichment morning—what is this?

Tomorrow morning and the Friday morning of 4th November we have enrichment mornings at school. So what is this all about?

The teaching staff have offered a variety of different options for the morning that may be different to the regular curriculum such as kite making, clay, origami, science toys, cartooning, music and performance and construction for example. The children have been offered 23 different activities altogether and choose their top eight activities. We then organise them into classes according to their options and they complete four of their chosen activities over the two Friday mornings.

Why do we have these mornings?

They provide an opportunity to experience other areas of learning  with a different group of children and each class is made up of children from years 1-6. Along with events like The Big Day In, it is an opportunity to do something as a whole school and this helps children form friendships and associations with others across all year levels of the school. We often see children asking others for help or playing with new friends after these days and we hope this will not only enrich their learning experiences but  provide the children with a different social  grouping also.

Team photos Friday 21st October

To all coaches, managers and players,

Team photos will be taken on Friday 21st October. Below is a general timetable – it is hard to give exact times due to the nature of the day. Children must be in their classroom at the start of school for morning roll call. Teams will be sent for as the photographer is ready for them. Children who are in a sports team or group listed below will bring home a leaflet from Photolife today with details of how to purchase the photos. This is all done through Photolife and not the school so if you find your child does not have a leaflet please ask them to collect one from the school office.

Times are approximate only

All children will need to bring full uniform including socks and shoes as appropriate.

No uniform for road patrol, swim team, cross country, librarians and choir (children can wear school uniform if they have one).

The Rippa/Tackle rugby teams will be supplied with a uniform on the day.

Drop Off Zone

There have been a few occasions when traffic has been held up on Glamorgan Drive  last term, particularly on rainy days. Drivers must move on if they cannot get into the drop off zone and go around the block. The police are aware of the problem and will be taking action regarding two relevant infringements in these circumstances: blocking the road and blocking the footpath. Please make sure if you have grandparents or others collecting your child from school through the drop off zone, that they know how this works and can use it appropriately.

Scholastic Book Orders

Last day for all orders back to school is Friday 14th October.

Found – jacket after the Variety Show

At the end of one of the performances of the Variety Show last term a beige/navy reversible men’s jacket was found in the hall. We have the jacket in the school office if it belongs to you.

Money can be returned to school during the week beginning Monday 31st October. We will have a team of volunteers in the room next to the office to collect your money from 8.30am to 9.30am.

  • If you have returned your opt- out slip to the office, your child will not be allocated chocolate.
