Thursday 2nd February 2017 to Thursday 13th April 2017
Kia ora koutou. Hello everyone.
Library roofing upgrade
After several delays we expect works to start on the upgrade of the library roof next week. This means trucks will access the library around the end of the hall and across the school field near the pool area and care needs to be taken when accessing the school playground areas or pool area. You may find certain areas inaccessible for a while. Primary aged children should not be at school after hours by themselves without an adult at any time, but please do not send them to play at school without an adult present over the next few months.
Whole School Assemblies – new time, starting at 2pm not 1:30pm
On Friday 24th March Team 5 will be leading our whole school assembly starting at 2pm in the school hall. Everyone is welcome to come along.
Home/School Partnership Team – Reading Eggs and Mathletics Evening
Thursday March 30 at 7pm
This year our school has signed up to 3 P Learning for two excellent on-line programmes that can be accessed at school and home. We had Mathletics being used in senior classes, but after being given a free trial of Reading Eggs for a term it was decided that this would benefit all our students. Years 1 and 2 are using Reading Eggs. Years 3 and above are using Reading Eggspress and Mathletics.
To get the best out of these programmes parent knowledge of how they operate and what resources are available is essential. Wayne Marr from 3P Learning is an experienced teacher himself. He is an excellent presenter who will enable you to help your child get the best out of these two great resources.
Please join us in the staffroom on Thursday March 30 at 7pm.
You will not want to miss it!
You can click here to download and print off the flyer – Mathletics Reading Eggs Information Evening Flyer
Please send the return slip to the office or email the office on email@example.com to let us know if you will be attending the evening.
A reminder that from year 4 onwards grading will take place at lunchtimes next week on the following dates:
Tuesday 21st March Year 5
Wednesday 22nd March Year 4
Thursday 23rd March Year 6
Any students wishing to trial should bring suitable footwear and clothing on the applicable day.

Police Vetting for sports team coaches and managers
Since the Vulnerable Children’s Act came out in 2015 we have been updating our procedures and policies around keeping children and young people safe. It is recommended that all sports coaches and managers are police vetted as they have a position of authority over children and are often alone with them. If you are, or will be volunteering to be, a sports coach or manager can you please pop into the office with two forms of identification, one of which must be photo ID (e.g. a drivers licence and passport would be fine). There is no cost for the police vet and the office staff will complete the paperwork required. A police vet lasts for 3 years. If you have had a police vet within the last 3 years through Glamorgan School please let us know and we will add your name to our database.
Keeping our children safe in a digital world
At a recent Keeping Ourselves Safe parent information evening the topic of digital and online safety was raised. Police Education Officer Tania Wansink has offered to run an evening at Glamorgan School on Cybersafety. To help us organise the evening we would appreciate it if you could complete a quick online survey (only 3 very quick questions). Depending on interest the evening would take place in term 2. The survey will close on Sunday 19th March. Many thanks to all those who have responded to the survey so far. If you wish to respond click here to access the survey.
Updated lunchroom menu
Feedback received from the Board of Trustees survey last year was that some people liked the lunch room menu as it is and some would like changes. Deejays have changed some aspects of their menu and also added sushi available on Thursdays (pre order before 9am Wednesdays). The menu is on the school website and a copy was sent home with the oldest or only child in your family last week. On this hard copy of the menu there were 2 errors: moosies should be $2 and chicken nugget roll should be $3:50 . We have updated the menu on our website but will not send out hard copies again. Please note that you must place your sushi order for Thursday before 9am on Wednesday morning.
