9am Thursday 2nd February 2017 to 3pm Thursday 13th April 2017
Kia ora koutou. Hello everyone.
Sickness at school
Just a reminder to parents that if your child has been vomiting or had diarrhoea at all there should be a 24 hour period of no vomiting or diarrhoea before they return to school. Also please let the office know of any cases of chickenpox in your family; we do have children for whom chickenpox will have very serious consequences and their families need to know straight away if their child has been in close contact with the virus.
Whole School Assemblies – new time, starting at 2pm not 1:30pm
On Friday 24th March Team 5 will be leading our whole school assembly starting at 2pm in the school hall. Everyone is welcome to come along.
Online Booking for Parent/Child/Teacher discussions on Thursday 6th April
Parent/Child/Teacher discussions will be held on Thursday 6th April from 1:10pm. Please note that school will close early at 1:00pm that day. There is no facility to look after children when the school is closed so please make alternative arrangements for that afternoon. If your child goes to Glamorgan Kids Club then they can go at 1:00 as it will open earlier that day.
You will be able to make a booking with your child’s teacher through www.schoolinterviews.co.nz from 30th March to 5pm on 5th April. The code to use will be in next week’s newsletter.
Teacher only day cancelled
Please note in an earlier newsletter we advised there would be a teacher only day on Friday 2nd June. This has now been cancelled and therefore school will be open as usual on 2nd June.
We have 10 pairs of very new looking swimming goggles in the office! If your child has lost their goggles please ask them to come and have a look. Also start checking the lost property box at the back of the hall for any lost clothing this term. At the end of term any left over clothing will be donated to charity.
A reminder that the school pool will close on Friday 31st March as this is the end of our swimming season.
Scholastic Book Orders
The last day to place orders from the current flyer is tomorrow, Friday 24th March.
North Harbour Primary Rugby Tournament
The rugby season is upon us again and it is time to register our teams for the above tournament, which takes place in Terms 2 and 3. The tournament caters for the following divisions:
- Year 3-4 Boys Rippa
- Year 3-4 Girls Rippa
- Year 5-6 Boys Rippa
- Year 5-6 Girls Rippa
- Year 5-6 Tackle
The tournament takes place in Terms 2 and 3, during school time on the following dates: Thursday 4th May (Save Day Tuesday 9th May); Thursday 15th June (Save Day Tuesday 20th June); and Thursday 10th August (Save Day Tuesday 15th August). The venue is the East Coast Bays RFC, Windsor Park, Mairangi Bay.
If player response is great, we may need more teams than we have coaches. If this occurs, we will call on parents to coach some of the teams, otherwise we will assign players to a team on a first come basis. In the event of insufficient numbers for individual boys and girls teams, mixed teams can be entered in the Boys divisions.
Unless advised otherwise, coaching sessions will take place at school during lunchtimes. Coaching days will be advised to players, when available.
If your child would like to play either Rippa rugby or tackle rugby for a Glamorgan School team this year please see Mr Sheers in Room 16 for a notice or download the notice from the school website – parent information-permission slips – Rugby button. (Note: year 3 students were all given a notice earlier this week)
Would you please complete the permission slip and return it to school no later than Tuesday 28th March.

Board of Trustees meeting
The next Board meeting will be at 7pm on Wednesday 29th March in the administration building. Anyone is welcome to come along.
Home/School Partnership Team – Reading Eggs and Mathletics Evening
Thursday March 30 at 7pm
This year our school has signed up to 3 P Learning for two excellent on-line programmes that can be accessed at school and home. We had Mathletics being used in senior classes, but after being given a free trial of Reading Eggs for a term it was decided that this would benefit all our students. Years 1 and 2 are using Reading Eggs. Years 3 and above are using Reading Eggspress and Mathletics.
To get the best out of these programmes parent knowledge of how they operate and what resources are available is essential. Wayne Marr from 3P Learning is an experienced teacher himself. He is an excellent presenter who will enable you to help your child get the best out of these two great resources.
Please join us in the staffroom on Thursday March 30 at 7pm.
You will not want to miss it!
You can click here to download and print off the flyer – Mathletics Reading Eggs Information Evening Flyer
Please send the return slip to the office or email the office on firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know if you will be attending the evening.

Autism Awareness Week
Autism is something that can affect any family and as a school we are all learning ways to support children with Autism to be as successful as they possibly can be. As part of World Autism Awareness Week from 3rd to 7th April we will hold a “Shine a Light on Autism” gold coin collection on Friday 7th April. All coins will go to the Children’s Autism Foundation. If the children would like to wear light blue in support of Autism Awareness Day they are most welcome to do so but this is entirely optional.
ICAS (International Competition and Assessment for Schools)
A letter/entry form was sent home earlier in the term with the year 5 and 6 students who requested one for the 2017 ICAS tests. If your child does not have a letter and you wish them to participate you can download the form here – ICAS 2017. Entry forms and payment need to be returned to school by Friday 7th April. You can view sample questions, purchase past papers and online practice here (www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/icas/preparation).
