Term 1 ends at 3pm tomorrow Friday 13th April

Term 2 begins at 9am on Monday 30th April

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

School Anzac Day Service tomorrow Friday 13th April 2018

Our school Anzac Service will be held tomorrow, the last day of the term, Friday 13th April at 9:15am by the crosses under the pohutukawa tree at the front of the school and you are all welcome to come along. If it is raining we will go into the hall.

Whooping cough

We have now had three confirmed cases and two probable cases of whooping cough in the year 2, 5 and 6 areas of the school over the past 5 weeks. Please be vigilant and if you have any concerns about your child/ren go straight to your GP and request that your child/ren be tested for whooping cough. It may help if you explain that there have been cases of confirmed whooping cough at school as sometimes the GP will otherwise think the test is not necessary.

Oneroa Community of Learning (CoL)/Kāhui Ako

Last year seven schools in our local area combined to form a Community of Schools (CoL) or Kāhui Ako.  The seven schools in the CoL are Long Bay College, Long Bay Primary School, Torbay School, Northcross Intermediate School, Sherwood School and Glamorgan School. The community of schools is called Oneroa Kāhui Ako.

We aim to:

  1. Create strong working relationships between our schools so that our students and families have effective transitions between primary, intermediate and college
  2. Develop approaches where teaching, learning and assessment practices are shared collaboratively across the community to provide better outcomes for our students
  3. Strengthen our bonds with whanau, family and community

Glamorgan has two Within School-Leaders who work within the Oneroa Kāhui Ako:

Jo Barker.  I teach in Matariki (Team 1) and have a passion for working with children and families to make the transition from Early Childhood Education to school a smooth and positive experience.

Karen Halkyard.  I am currently working in Rangitiratanga (Team 6) and have a keen interest in literacy.

Over the coming months we will keep you informed about what we are working on and our progress throughout the year. Please feel free to come and chat to us about our Kāhui Ako. We would welcome your questions and feedback.

Shore to Shore

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along to Shore To Shore on Sunday.  It was a fantastic day with beautiful sunshine and we had so much red and green on everyone including the dressup, face painting and accessories on all our runners and walkers so thanks for supporting Glamorgan School.  Thanks to all the helpers, bakers, supporters as well as runners and walkers for a great event.  The Glamorgan Tent was well supported and we raised a little less than $200 towards fundraising for Glamorgan School.

East Coast Bays Holiday Programme

East Coast Bays Library has lots of school holiday activities planned. The theme for the programmes across Auckland Libraries is “Up, Up and Away”, and the events and activities have been aligned with this.

The full programme of events for all Auckland Libraries is available on the libraries website:

It has been a busy but productive term, thank you for all your support for our school, we really appreciate it.

Nga mihi
