Strike action Wednesday 15th August – school closed

A reminder to all parents and caregivers that as per the email sent out 2 weeks ago, the school will be closed for instruction due to the strike action taken by teachers in the NZEI Union on Wednesday 15th August. Please note there will be no support staff at school also, therefore the school office will be closed. Thank you in advance for making alternative arrangements for your child/ren that day.

QUIZ NIGHT – THIS SATURDAY 11th AUGUST – register your teams now at http://tinyurl.com/glamorganquiz.  Tickets cost $20 per adult – maximum of 10 adults per table.

ICAS Maths

A reminder that the ICAS Maths exam for those year 5 and 6 students who registered is Tuesday, 14th August. Children will be reminded through the daily notices and will be told where and when to go on the day.

Touch Rugby 2018

If your child is interested in playing touch rugby in term 4 please see details here and complete the registration form and either return it to the school office or by email to candice.durant@gmail.com

Registration must be received by Friday 17 August and teams will be formed on a first come basis. No late entries will be accepted. Coaches and managers will be needed for each team formed.

Children need to play wearing a Glamorgan School sports uniform which can be purchased from the school office.

The entry fee of $42.00 will be required to be paid once teams have been confirmed.

Apologies for the short notice but we only received the registration information from Touch North Harbour this week.

Camp 2019 parent meeting

All parents and caregivers of current year 5 children are invited to the information evening for Camp 2019 at 7pm on Thursday 16th August in the staffroom. This evening will give information about the camp and give parents the opportunity to ask any questions they may have. This meeting forms part of the outdoor education process to enable parents to give informed consent for their child to attend camp. Please note that attending this meeting is a prerequisite if you wish to be considered as a parent helper for camp.

It has come to our attention that for a few families 16th August is not a suitable date and the staff are willing to run an extra meeting on the morning of Thursday 23rd August at 7:45am. This meeting will last approximately half an hour.

Drop off zone in the mornings

Once again we appeal for safe practices when dropping off your children in the mornings and using the drop off zone. Please move down the drop off zone and do not park at the top so cars behind queue down the road when there is enough room to move down. Children can walk the short distance from the drop off to their classroom! It is also dangerous to park on the opposite side on the yellow lines and you do this at your own risk. Drivers must be vigilant when pulling away and we have had someone caught by a car when crossing back over the drop off zone. Maybe consider walk and park options  – we have many streets within 5 minutes walking distance of the school where you could walk your child into school instead.
