Term 1 2019 begins at 9am on Thursday 31st January 2019
Kia ora koutou. Hello everyone.
Friends of The School News
Browns Bay Christmas Parade and Carnival this Saturday!
Saturday 1st December 5pm. Glamorgan School are walking as a group in this parade again – all are welcome, so come and join us dressed in red/green colours to support our school – Santa hats, tinsel, angel wings, anything Christmassy is great too! Our famous dragon will lead the way with children and families walking behind.
Along the way, we will be collecting donations for the Cancer Society, in memory of Pete Mills, the kind gentleman who has previously transported our dragon, so please bring a gold coin to drop in the buckets!
We will be assembling from 4.30pm on Glen Road; the organisers have asked that we please enter from Anzac Road only. The parade will end by the beach. It would be good to have some parents join us, but equally if you would like to watch the parade and collect your child at the end, please make sure to give your phone number to me, Lisa Radford (I’ll be in the green tutu) when you drop your child off – you do this at your own risk of course – I have enough trouble keeping track of my own kids Younger siblings are welcome to walk with us, but we ask that parents stay with any non-school age children please.
We will have a table at the carnival afterwards selling some chocolates, so please come and top up your stash of Whittakers bars! We are looking for a couple of volunteers who would be willing to setup the table beforehand (who don’t mind missing the parade) and sell the chocolates leftover from our recent fundraiser. Please email Katie directly if this is something you can help with email@example.com
Invitation to all our wonderful helpers! Thank you morning tea in the staffroom – see below for details:
Many congratulations to the school athletics team who went to Kristin School last Tuesday along with eleven other local primary schools. A really good team effort with also some outstanding individual results. See the Sports Newsletter coming out soon for more details.
Thank you to Michaela Nicol for organising our team and Glenn, Laurinda and Taashi Sheers along with all the parent helpers for going along with the children. The day was a huge success!
Staff news – Farewells and welcome!
At the end of term 4 we say farewell to teachers Lisa McLean who is leaving the Auckland region after 18 months at our school, Lyn Peters who has resigned after 23 years at Glamorgan School and will still be in touch through relieving teacher work in the future and Tracey Poulter who after 12 years at Glamorgan has accepted a position with the Blind and Low Vision Education Network – we wish them all well for the future.
There will be a special assembly to farewell Lyn and Tracey on Wednesday 12th December at 1:45pm in the school hall and you are all welcome to come along.
We thank Ann Morris and Jeanette Holding for stepping in to take long term relieving positions this year. Ann will return in 2018 and Jeanette has won a position at another local school. We welcome Casia Dunning and Holly Griffin to the teaching staff next year.
The lost property box is once again full! Please take a look in the box at the back of the school hall before or after school and take any of your child’s belongings home. Teachers will also take the children to look at the lost property before the end of term. All property remaining after school closes will be donated to charity.
