Term 1 ends at 3pm on Friday 12th April 2019

Term 2 begins at 9am on Monday 29th April

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Gumboot Up on Friday 5 April!

Gumboot Friday is a new initiative by New Zealander of the Year, Mike King, and I Am Hope. It’s aiming to raise $2 million for children who need some mental health support. Students, teachers and parents are invited to wear gumboots to school on Friday 5 April in support of Gumboot Friday and bring along a gold coin donation (if you can) and drop it in at the school office. All funds raised on the day will help provide free counselling to kids who need it.  You can find out more about Gumboot Friday at www.iamhope.org.nz/gumbootfriday

School Photos on Monday 8th April

For Years 2-6 Photolife will be in school to take class, individual and sibling photos on Monday 8th April. A flyer is coming home today with every child  explaining how you can view and purchase the photos online. Please note that the school does not take any money for the photos, all payments are made directly to Photolife.

If you wish to have sibling photos you must collect a form from the school office and complete the information before 8th April. The photographer is not authorised to take any sibling photos unless the signed form is returned to school before photo day.

All our Year 1 classes will have their photos taken in term 4 when the classes are complete.

Sickness

We have had a variety of illnesses this term between the children and the staff but we seem to be overcoming most things now. Can I please remind caregivers though that children should not come back to school if they have had a fever, vomiting or diarrhoea until they have had 24 hours clear. Many thanks.

Pool closed

The pool is now closed and this is the end of the 2018/19 swimming season. If you have a key please return this to the office before 24 May in order to get back the key deposit of $20. Please note: money will not be given to children. A huge thank you to Ken Bott and Bob Stephens who have kept the pool and changing sheds in great condition all season and our wonderful group of volunteers who have covered the pool and locked up every evening during the week for the last 4 months.

ANZAC Service Browns Bay

We still have no volunteers to lay a wreath on behalf of the school on ANZAC Day at the morning service in Browns Bay. If your children would like to do this please contact the school office asap.

School Anzac Day Service Friday 12th April 2019

Our school Anzac Service will be held on the last day of the term, Friday 12th April at 9:15am by the crosses under the pohutukawa tree at the front of the school and you are all welcome to come along. If it is raining we will go into the hall.

Lost property

We have lots of togs, towels and jumpers amongst other really lovely clothes that belong to someone in the lost property box. The classes will all go and have a look but please feel free to pop into the back of the school hall and have a look for yourselves. All clothing not claimed at the end of term will be given to charity.
