KIAKITANGA – Term 2 Newsletter
We are set to go for another busy and exciting term!
We are calling our topic this term “Our People, Our Culture, Our World” We will be starting the term by looking at heroes, from international heroes to local heroes like the Police and ordinary people who do something special.
This will lead us up to the second half of the term which has a science focus. We will be giving the children a science homework task which they will be expected to present to their class in Weeks 7 and 8.
Winter games, large ball skills, cross country running, Kiwisport soccer
Much of this will be in connection with what we are doing or have done: Persuasive writing, recounts (cross country), creative writing, factual writing, explanations and procedural writing (science).
Our main focus is multiplication and division. We will also be covering aspects of geometry and measurement. The development of number knowledge continues all the time. Please support this area by helping your child to learn their basic facts and encourage them to use Mathletics.
A new sheet will come home each week. It will have some basic facts activities and notices about Team and school events.
Remember we send out the homework sheets on Friday to be collected the following Thursday. Please go through your child’s efforts with them and mark and acknowledge what they have done.
