Term 3 2019

Monday 22nd July to Friday 27th September 2019

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Whole School Assembly

Haepapa (Team 5) will lead our whole school assembly tomorrow Friday 23rd August at 2pm in the school hall. You are all welcome to attend.

Daffodil Day Friday 31st August-Let’s go yellow!

Each year we support one or two charities from the many that approach schools and our support is again goyellow_daffodil_blooms_188867ing to the Cancer Society. Daffodil Day is on Friday 30th  August and we will  be having a ‘yellow’ day at school on this day. Children can wear yellow clothes; have yellow ribbons or shoes. They may also have ‘yellow’ activities at school planned by their teachers. A daffodil will be available for a donation to the Cancer Society, made when the classes come to the hall during the morning and put their coins into the giant daffodil! Thank you for your support.

Inter Schools Winter Sports Day

Well done and congratulations to the hockey, football, basketball and netball teams who participated last Thursday in the Northern Bays Interschools Winter Sports Day. Feedback from the organiser at Kristin School was that the behaviour and sportsmanship were fantastic from all the school’s teams and supporters, only really good positive comments from all venues.  Our teams did extremely well with football and miniball coming first and netball third which is fantastic. We will always take the wins,  but we value the participation and commitment from the players, coaches and managers above all else and we thank them very much. Thank you also to Michaela Nicol who organises our participation in these events.

2020 Enrolment Applications

If you have a child turning 5 next year or know of anyone else  who has a child and wants them to come to Glamorgan School in 2020 please let the office know as soon as possible. All in zone children are guaranteed a place.

Out of zone applications- advance information

Any out of zone applications for 2020 will to go into a ballot held in October, if we have any places to offer. All out of zone applications must be in to the school office by 15th October.

Please note: if you have a child enrolled out of zone already this does not give any other siblings in your family an automatic place at the school. Each out of zone enrolment must go through the ballot process and therefore it is essential you apply as soon as possible.

The Variety Show  is coming! 18th and 19th September

Book these dates into your family calendar now! The whole school will present a variety show with items from every team. This is not to be missed!

There will be two matinee performances at 1pm and two evening performances at 6:30pm on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th September. All the children are expected to take part and be available for all of the performances.

We are aware that the most popular shows are usually in the evening but with over 580 children not everyone will be able to come along to these shows and we urge families to plan ahead and come to the matinees as well. As our children are young we feel three evening shows is too much and the extra matinee performance we have included this time provides the opportunity for more of you to see the show.

Board of Trustees Meeting

The next Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Wednesday  28th August at 7pm in the administration building and anyone is welcome to come along.

Last chance to register for our annual quiz night, sponsored by Ian & Diane Dodds of Harcourts. Visit to sign up now! Maximum 10 people per team, and $20 registration per person. Prizes for best dressed team and quiz winners… Don’t miss out on our biggest night of the year!
Alongside the quiz, we’ll be running a silent auction and a live auction for some bigger items INCLUDING a family day pass to Snow Planet AND a two-night stay at Sandspit Holiday Park and cruise! Other prizes include vouchers for Albany Stadium Pool, Deep Creek, Fitness HQ, Torbay Village Butcher, and many more…
We’ll also be running some NEW party games AND have booked a magic selfie mirror, so you can capture your glorious team pics. Bring some coins so you don’t miss out!
If you’ve never been to a Glamorgan quiz before, a few helpful bits of info:
– we will have EFTPOS to collect payments for auction items. All items must be paid for on the night, so make sure you’ve either got enough cash or bring your card!
– BYO food and drink
– dressing up is optional… But does make the night more fun!
– doors open at 7, and the quiz starts at 7.30pm prompt
– most importantly, enjoy yourselves! It’s a great chance to relax with friends without 101 interruptions from our kids 🙂
A really big thank you to the many parents at the school who have donated items for raffle baskets, silent auction and live auction, and to everyone who’s registered and paid!
Thank you to those who have already ordered, and paid, for The Big Paint! Just a note: the star shaped dish is now out of stock, apologies; we’ve removed it from the online form, but please don’t order it if you’re using the paper form.
For those who missed the flier last week – on Friday 11 October and Saturday 12 October, the school hall will become a paint workshop! The team from Paint the Earth will be bringing items to paint, all the brushes and sponges, and all the paints – all you need to do on the day is turn up! The finished items will be returned to school by 1 November for collection.
This event is strictly PRE-ORDER ONLY, and to allow Paint the Earth to prepare accordingly, all orders must be received AND paid for by 30 August. You can return order forms (and pay) to the office or you can also order online at To manage numbers, please also specify when you order which date and session you will be joining (AM/PM), and then turn up on the day at some point within that time slot.
Everyone can paint – students, siblings, parents, friends, anyone! Come and join us for some crafty fun – ideal for Christmas presents (sorry to say the C-word in August!) or just some fun with your kids.
Any questions, please get in touch with us at
Next FOTS meeting
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, 3 September at 7pm in the staff room. All are welcome! We’ll be having a quiz night debrief and planning the 1 November disco.
