Term 3 ends at 3pm on Friday 27th September 2019

Term 4 starts Monday 14th October and ends Tuesday 17th December 2019

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Term dates 2020

We have held off publishing these dates for 2020 as when teachers settled on a new collective agreement with the Ministry of Education an Accord was also negotiated which would give a further 8 days over the term of the collective when schools can close to provide release time for teachers.  However, these days have not yet been set or confirmed by the union or Ministry. Therefore, please be aware there could be 2-3 more days in 2020 when the school will be closed for instruction. We will let you know the dates as soon as we have the information.

Term 1 – Monday 3rd February to Wednesday 8th April

(Teacher Only Day 9th April, Public holidays: Waitangi Day 6th February, Good Friday 10th April)

Term 2 – Tuesday 28th April to Friday 3rd July

(Public holidays: ANZAC (observed) 27th April, Queen’s Birthday 1st June)

Term 3 – Monday 20th July to Friday 25th September

Term 4 – Monday 12th October to Wednesday 16th December

(Public holiday: Labour Day 26th October)

Drop off zone

Please do not park on the yellow lines at all when using the drop off zone in the mornings or afternoons. It is very dangerous for children to cross the drop off zone amidst moving cars. Also a reminder that if your child is not able to get in the car independently then you should be parking elsewhere and walking into school until they can. Come to collect your children at 3:05pm at the earliest in the afternoons – this ensures the children are ready and waiting and we don’t block Glamorgan Drive. If you choose to queue down Glamorgan Drive before our gate opens you risk getting a fine from the traffic wardens.

Travelwise Survey

Auckland Transport invites all parents/caregivers to take part in Glamorgan School Baseline Survey. This survey is designed to collect information about how students are travelling to and from school, preferences for travel and identifying any barriers that might limit students from travelling in an active and sustainable way. All parent/caregivers need to do is click on the digital link: to complete the survey and it should take no more than 10 minutes to do.

The survey is open now and will close on Wednesday 23 October. This information will assist Glamorgan School to develop new road safety and travel initiatives to better cater for students in the future. As a thank you for taking part, Auckland Transport is providing 2 sets of double movie passes to two lucky parent/caregivers. To be eligible to go into the prize winning draw, you will need to put your full name and contact details on the survey.

Board of Trustees meeting

The Board will meet at 7pm on Wednesday 25th September in the administration building. Anyone is welcome to come along.

Out of zone applications- advance information

Any out of zone applications for 2020 will to go into a ballot held in October, if we have any places to offer. All out of zone applications must be in to the school office by 15th October.

Please note: if you have a child enrolled out of zone already this does not give any other siblings in your family an automatic place at the school. Each out of zone enrolment must go through the ballot process and therefore it is essential you apply as soon as possible.

Planning for 2020

Planning is well underway for term 4 and we are now working into 2020 to ensure we have the staff we need to structure the school the best way for the children’s learning. As we finalise our school structure for 2020, if there is anything we need to know regarding your child’s placement please contact the principal, Janet Pinchen, in writing by the end of term 3 and not via your child’s current teacher.
