Welcome everyone.  This year has flown by and we are fast approaching Christmas and the end of another successful year at Glamorgan School.  Thank you to everyone involved in contributing to the success of Glamorgan School whether it be academic, sporting, socially or culturally.  The Variety Show was a highlight this year so thanks to all the teachers, parents and students who worked so incredibly hard to put together a great showcase of all our students from new entrants to Year 6.

 New Board of Trustees

Thank you to everyone who voted to elect the new Board of Trustees at Glamorgan School.  We are settling in as a new team and are excited to represent you and your children for the next three years on the Board.  We have and continue to do board training as a team and are looking forward to doing our best for Glamorgan School.

Our team consists of Janet Pinchen (Principal), Morag Ward (Chairperson), Nayth Loft (Staff Representative), Iain Carmichael, Jon Irving, Nicole Thompson and Irene Wirtenberger.

Solar Panels

We are very lucky to have had solar panels installed on the roof of the administration building due to a very generous donation from Brian and Karen Walker who wanted our children to learn about sustainability, harvesting natural sources of power and how this can impact everyone’s future.  Thank you Brian and Karen Walker and we are looking forward to our children learning about solar power.

Donations

Thank you so much to those of you who have paid your donation.  It makes a huge difference to what we can do to improve your child’s learning experience at Glamorgan. Thinking ahead to 2020, we know the beginning of the year is often expensive but there are many options of when and how to pay as detailed in school newsletters and the website.  If you need to talk to someone regarding this, please contact the office and they will advise or direct you to the appropriate person.

Community Survey

We would like your feedback on the school’s programmes, resources and buildings to help with forward planning and we have an online survey that can be completed by visiting the link below between 24th October and 15th November.  Thank you in advance for your time.

Pool & Grounds

Pool keys will be on sale to families again later this term and then available to the wider community after that.  Please note the expectation that you will use the pool (and surrounding facilities) according to the rules of the Pool Users Contract.  A few things to please note:

  • All children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Your key is for your family only and not to be shared.
  • Take your own rubbish home particularly nappies and wet wipes which block the drains.
  • No food or pets inside the pool complex.

Also a reminder that motorbikes, skate boards and dogs are not allowed on school property.  The water tank beside the hall and other buildings are also not to be climbed up on.  Please help us in maintaining our grounds and keeping them safe and clean for children to play on.

 Year 6 Leaving Ceremony

The Year 6 Leaving Ceremony is on Thursday 5th December 2019 and an opportunity for family and friends of Year 6 to celebrate our Year 6 children and families and wish them well on their way as they leave primary school and go on to Intermediate.  We wish all the Year 6 children and families leaving us all the very best as you continue your education.  It has been a pleasure having you at Glamorgan and we look forward to seeing you when you come back and visit us.

 Thank You

A lot of wonderful people contribute to the success of Glamorgan School and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved which consists of a variety of dedicated people.

Our hard working teaching staff and management team work tirelessly and are passionate about Glamorgan School and we appreciate all your efforts including all teacher aides and support staff.  Thanks to the administration and grounds staff as well who keep our school running smoothly.  Please take the opportunity to thank these people if you come across them.

Special thanks go to Katie Kouchakji Elliott and the whole Friends of the School Team for all their time and hard work fundraising for our school.  FOTS give up a lot of their precious time to raise money for items not covered by government subsidies or funding to benefit all the children.  FOTS have had a very successful year with some exciting new fundraisers which also contribute to community involvement as well which is so important.  If you are keen to get involved, please email the office for details.

Thanks too to all the parents and family members who help in some way or another – be it sports coaching, managing a team, helping put books away, road crossings, walking school bus, help on trips, FOTS, Waterwise, supporting fundraisers or buying pool keys – it is all very much appreciated and we thank you for being involved!
