End of Year Date and Time

School will close at 1 p.m. on Tuesday 17th December for the end of our 2019 school year.  This includes the office.

Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up from school as there will be no staff here in the afternoon. We will have a shortened lunchtime that day from 12:00 to 12:30.

If your child usually goes to Glamorgan Kids Club after school they should go at 1pm as the Kids Club will be open for them.

PLEASE NOTE: there will be no school bus in the afternoon or at 1pm.

Our first day of school for 2020 is Monday 3rd February.

The office will open on Thursday 30th January and Friday 31st January  from 9am to 12:00pm for payment of stationery and donations.

Uniform orders will not be taken until 10th February.

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Shoot keys for Rooms 1, 2, 4, 16, 15 and 25  were sent home last Thursday. The free delivery period for Rooms 1, 2, 4, 16, 15 and 25 ends at midnight on Sunday 8th December.

Many congratulations to the school athletics team who went to Kristin School last Tuesday along with eleven other local primary schools. A really good team effort with also some outstanding individual results and overall Glamorgan School came third.

Thank you to Michaela Nicol for organising our team and Glenn, Laurinda, Tilly and Taashi Sheers along with all the parent helpers for going along with the children. The day was a huge success!

FOTS News
Browns Bay Santa parade – 7 December
Glamorgan School will be walking in the Browns Bay Santa parade in the afternoon of 7 December – save the date! Please wear red and green, and dress Christmassy!
The parade starts at 5pm, so we will meet from 4.30pm on Glen Road – the organisers have asked that we please enter from Anzac Road. We will just be walking this year, without our famous dragon’s head, so please look out for the school flags and your FOTS team! We ask that there is a responsible adult with each child walking. Thank you!
Afterwards, we are going to congregate by the beach – grab your picnic rugs, bring a picnic, and join us for a relaxing evening as a community.
Final 2019 meeting – 10 December, 7pm
Our final meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, 10 December at 7pm in the staff room (which is above the office; please use the stairs to the left, outside). We’re going to elect our 2020 chairperson and finalise our events calendar for next year. Please feel free to come along – new people are always welcome! Contact Katie at fots@glamorgan.school.nz for more info.
School fair – update
Alas, the fair is being postponed owing to scheduling conflicts. We are looking to reschedule it for Term 4 next year; watch this space for more information. We apologise for any disappointment.

Special School Assembly at 2:15pm Tuesday 10th December

After 25 years as a teacher aide at our school and a 35 year association altogether including time when her children and grandchildren have attended Glamorgan, Shirley Morgan has decided the time has come to retire. An assembly will be held in the school hall on Tuesday 10th December at 2:15pm followed by an afternoon tea in the staffroom. You are welcome to come along. Please let the office know if you will be coming for afternoon tea (adults only please) so we can cater accordingly.

Reports and how you can help at home in the school holidays

Next Thursday you will receive your child’s school report. In the section called ‘How you can help at home’ you are directed to the school website which has some great ideas – many more than can be detailed in a report. Go to the Parent Information tab and click on Home School Partnership and then the Literacy or Maths button. There are links and information for you to choose from here – remember to do little and often if possible. Just choose a couple of things at a time and if you can keep some reading, writing and basic Maths going in the holidays it really helps your child maintain the level at which they finished the year.

Pool Key Sales

The school pool is now open and will close on Friday 3rd April. Pool keys can be purchased from the school office at a cost of $140 per key which includes a refundable $20 key bond and will give access to the pool after school, at weekends and during the school summer holidays.

Library Books

Please have a good look at home and send all library books back to school as soon as possible –  the stocktake has already started.

Lost Property

The lost property box is once again full! Please take a look in the box at the back of the school hall before or after school and take any of your child’s belongings home. Teachers will  also take the children to look at the lost property before the end of term. All property remaining after school closes will be donated to charity.
