Term 3 Monday 20 July – Friday 25 September

(School closed Friday 28th August)

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone, welcome to term 3. A special welcome to those children and families new to the school this term.

Term 3 parent discussions

We have arranged to have 15 minute parent discussions in weeks 2 and 3 of next term after school has finished and therefore will not be closing the school early this time. At the discussion the teacher will give you a brief report of where your child is working against the curriculum in reading, writing and maths and talk to you about their progress and next learning goals. This is also a chance to catch up on the wellbeing of your child and how things are going for them socially and emotionally. Discussions will be held on the following days and times:

Tuesday 28th July:  3:15pm – 6:00pm

Thursday 30th July:  3;15pm – 5:30pm

Thursday 6th August:  3;15pm – 5:30pm

You can book your appointment online at schoolinterviews.co.nz using the code: 2z3hc

Glamorgan Drive Parking

We appreciate parking is limited on Glamorgan Drive but please be aware parking on the yellow lines beside the pedestrian crossing completely blocks the vision of the children who are on road patrol. We thank those parents who have made suitable alternate plans due to the closing of the drop off zone in the afternoons. Due to your support this has been a successful transition.

Book Week 2020

Book Week is coming to Glamorgan School in Week 5, 17th – 21st August!
Two key things we would like you to know about are:

The Book Character Parade and Scholastic Book Fair.

Book Character Parade
Help your child to choose and organise a costume based on a book character. Come and join us for the parade – Friday 21st August at 9:20. Bring your family and friends to the parade!
Visit the library after the parade to browse the Book Fair and have some morning tea.

Book Fair
Visit the Scholastic Book Fair and buy a book to donate to the school library or buy something to take away (Glamorgan School will get a % of the sales!). The book fair will be in the school library.
Starts—Friday 14th August
Open each day 8:30am—9:30am and 2:30pm—3:30pm
Closes—Friday 21st August at 11:00.

Term dates for the remainder of 2020

When teachers settled on a new collective agreement with the Ministry of Education in 2019 an Accord was also negotiated which would give a further 8 days spread over 2020, 2021 and to June of 2022 when schools will close to provide time for teachers to review the curriculum and for professional development.  The remaining dates for 2020 when the school will be closed are Friday 28th August and Tuesday 27th October.

Important update: Due to schools closing during COVID19 Lockdown, the Minister and Ministry of Education have recalculated and reduced the number of days schools are required to be open for in 2020. This recalculation has resulted in our school now closing at the end of the year one day earlier than expected on Tuesday 15th December instead of Wednesday 16th December. Dates for the remainder of 2020 are therefore as follows:

Term 3 – Monday 20th July to Friday 25th September

(School closed Friday 28th August)

Term 4 – Monday 12th October to Tuesday 15th December

(Public holiday: Labour Day 26th October and school also closed 27th October)
