Pink Shirt Day was postponed from its usual date in May and will now be on Friday 16th October. Come to school wearing pink to show your support of the Bully-Free NZ anti-bullying message. If you don’t have anything pink to wear, perhaps make yourself a pink badge or bracelet with an anti-bullying message on it.
In Term 1 Room 18 started using Storyathon and submitted three students’ entries into the term 1 competition run across Australia and New Zealand. There were over 20,000 entries and 70,000 student votes, which was amazing considering the disruption everyone was dealing with at the time. Genevieve Blackburn was voted NZ National Champion (Middle Primary) for her “Oops” themed 100 word story. We have since waited 2 terms for a whole school assembly to present Genevieve with her trophy but have still not got to the point where a whole school assembly has happened! Well done Genevieve! We think it is worth celebrating and here is her story:
Crossing Glamorgan Drive
Please teach and model to your children crossing on the pedestrian crossing down Glamorgan Drive and NOT crossing on the brow of the hill right outside school. A car had to stop very suddenly this week on the brow of the hill as two boys crossed there – following the example of adults who were also crossing with their children at that spot.
Term dates 2021
When teachers settled on a new collective agreement with the Ministry of Education in 2019 an Accord was also negotiated which would give a further 8 days over the following 3 years when schools can close to provide release time and professional development for teachers. Four of these days will be used in 2021.
