Term 4 ends at 1pm on Tuesday 15th December

Please note: school is closed next Monday 26th October for Labour Day Public Holiday

and Tuesday 27th October for a Teacher Only Day

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Pink Shirt Day last Friday was a huge hit with the children having a lot of fun as well as learning a very serious anti bullying message.

Whole school assembly – provided we are at Alert level 1

Our first whole school assembly in term 4 is tomorrow Friday 23rd October in the school hall at 2pm and Hapori (Team 3) will be leading. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Team 4 fundraiser

In light of how difficult this year has been for so many families Team 4 would like to do something kind for others in New Zealand. As a team we will be running a collection for donations for the Give a Kid a Blanket organisation.

We are asking for donations of clean, washed blankets and clothing in good condition for families in need. Collections will be accepted up to the end of week 2 of term 4, October 23. Team 4 will run the collection across the school.

Donations can be left in the boxes at the front office.

Here is a little information about the organisation:

Give a Kid a Blanket

Give a Kid a Blanket started in 2015 as a Community Activated Art Action conceived and lead by artists Donna Turtle Sarten & Bernie Harfleet. The project has gone from strength to strength and is now a non profit registered charity.  With the help of the community of kindness that has gathered around the project we collect blankets and other items of warmth and care and gift them to kids and their families through service providers including police, public health nurses, social and community workers.

Since 2015 we have gifted over 60,000 blankets and over 40,000 other objects of warmth and care.

We also support North Shore and Auckland Hospital’s Intensive Care Units with family support packs.

Junior Athletics Day- 5, 6 and 7 year olds

Athletics for 5, 6 and 7 year olds this year is split across two mornings on Monday 2nd November and Wednesday 4th November from 9:25am up to lunch time on the school field starting with sprints and moving on to field events. Parents are welcome to come along and watch provided we are at Level 1.  Please still sign in using the paper sign in stations or the QR posters displayed around the school.

FoTS News
Our next meeting will be on 9 November at 7pm in the staff room. This will be our final meeting of 2020, at which we will need to appoint a new chairperson for 2021. We’re hoping to start planning for next year as well, so this is the perfect time to get involved if you’ve been holding back! Contact Katie at fots@glamorgan.school.nz for more info. Everyone is welcome!
DISCO – 6 November, 6.30-8.30pm
Hurrah, we can have a school disco! Year 6 has chosen Disney as the theme – which encompasses all the Disney classics as well as Marvel and Star Wars universes. Plenty of costume choices!
Parents of Year 1 & 2 pupils and children with extra needs are more than welcome to stay and of course we realise 2 hours may be too much for some children and you are welcome to collect your child before 8:30pm. We invite other parents to enjoy the two hour break, or volunteer to help with the disco if you would really like to stay. Contact Katie at fots@glamorgan.school.nz if you want more info.
We’re mindful that this has been far from a normal year for the kids and we really want them to have some fun! As such, we’re going to increase the cap on tickets to 350, from last year’s 300.
Tickets go on sale from 2 November from the school office – Year 6 only can purchase their tickets from 29 October. Tickets cost $5 and include a drink, a snack, a toy and one free print from the photobooth. We will be selling extra drinks, pizza and snacks, and kids can buy extra photo prints. There will be options for food allergy sufferers (gluten, dairy, nut and egg free)!
Finally, a BIG thank you to Jamie from Your Local Electrician for sponsoring the photobooth!
