Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Whole School Assembly
Our next whole school assembly will be led by Team 4 next Friday 20th November at 2pm in the school hall. Everyone is welcome to come along.
PhotoLife photos – online orders now open

Shoot keys for individual, family and sports photos were sent home last week – check your child’s bag or book bag. Please note the ‘free delivery’ time period for parents to place orders closes at midnight on 22nd November. All orders go through PhotoLife – the school takes no orders or money for photos.

Parent/Teacher/Child Discussions and end of year reports
This year has been a disrupted and different one for reporting to you as parents, but the feedback we received from having the discussions over several afternoons and for 15 minutes per family instead of 10 minutes was very positive. Following on from this, we will be offering these discussions again on
  • Monday 23rd November between 3:15pm and 6:00pm,
  • Thursday 26th November between 3:15pm and 5:30pm and
  • Monday 7th December between 3:15pm and 5:30pm.
The teacher will give you and your child their end of year report at the discussion and discuss their progress with you.  You will also be given your child’s stationery list for 2021 and the letter containing information about donations, Mathletics, Reading Eggs, class consumables and any other information pertaining only to your child’s team next year.
The link and code to make a booking for a discussion is below:        Code: 7devb
Any parents and caregivers who cannot attend a discussion will receive the report, stationery list and other information on 10th December in the same envelope that will come home with your child’s class placement for 2021.
School stationery changes for 2021 onwards
From 2021 the school will no longer provide stationery apart from class consumables such as crayons, highlighter pens and coloured pencils which are bought in bulk and shared in the class to keep costs as low as possible. After feedback from parents, the current financial climate for some families post Covid and a review of our systems and processes, we have decided to not hold stationery stock any longer at school. As parents this will also give you greater flexibility when purchasing school stationery. You will receive a stationery list should you want to buy stationery yourselves whilst the stores have their annual ‘special prices’ available or you can order a pack through OfficeMax. You can also use up stationery items you already have at home if you wish to.
Further information about how to access the OfficeMax My School website is coming – we are in the final stages of setting this up at the moment.

School bus

The school bus that starts at Torbay School and ends at Long Bay College, picking up from Glamorgan along the way, will stop for the year on Monday 14th December and start again on Thursday 4th February 2021.

Thank you so much to all of our helpers for last week’s disco – and to all of the children and parents for showing up! It’s safe to say we were overwhelmed by numbers and were at capacity – we’ve never seen that before at a disco, but nothing about 2020 has been as expected! We had to turn people away, so please make sure to buy your ticket in advance from the office next time to avoid disappointment.
And while we are not actively fundraising in 2020, we did make a small profit of around $2500 on the night, which will go towards the school’s ongoing projects, so thank you all again for your support.
Thank you again to Jamie from Your Local Electrician for sponsoring the photobooth and to Zoe from Bowtiful Things for the finishing touches on our decorations for the evening!
The third and final order has closed and the items are expected in the next couple of weeks. Thank you all for your support for this and we hope the students are proud of their artwork! In total, the three orders raised $2322.75 for the school.
Thank you to Letichia Drever for managing this for FOTS again this year.
Jen Spencer-Bates has agreed to chair FOTS meetings for 2021, while Sarah-Jane Joubert will oversee communications for the committee. Thank you both for volunteering to take these tasks on!
The committee has made a start on plans for next year, but will meet again on Monday 7 December at 7pm to firm up the schedule. All are welcome to join in – don’t be shy!
