PhotoLife photos – online orders now open

Shoot keys for individual, family and sports photos were sent home last week – check your child’s bag or book bag. Parent/Teacher/Child Discussions and end of year reports
This year has been a disrupted and different one for reporting to you as parents, but the feedback we received from having the discussions over several afternoons and for 15 minutes per family instead of 10 minutes was very positive. Following on from this, we will be offering these discussions again on
  • Monday 23rd November between 3:15pm and 6:00pm,
  • Thursday 26th November between 3:15pm and 5:30pm and
  • Monday 7th December between 3:15pm and 5:30pm.
The teacher will give you and your child their end of year report at the discussion and discuss their progress with you. The link and code to make a booking for a discussion is below:        Code: 7devb
Any parents and caregivers who cannot attend a discussion will receive the report, stationery list and other information on 10th December in the same envelope that will come home with your child’s class placement for 2021.
An amendment from last week’s newsletter –  your child’s stationery list for 2021 and the letter containing information about donations, Mathletics, Reading Eggs, class consumables and any other information pertaining only to your child’s team next year will now come home with the class placement sheet on 10th December.  Online stationery orders through OfficeMax will open on 11th December.

School bus

The school bus that starts at Torbay School and ends at Long Bay College, picking up from Glamorgan along the way, will stop for the year on Monday 14th December and start again on Thursday 4th February 2021.

Oneroa Kahui Ako – Food Drive

Dear Parents and Caregivers

The Oneroa Kahui Ako Learning Community is planning a Christmas Food Drive scheduled to be held within the next 2 weeks. We are fundraising for the Salvation Army, who will give the food donated to families in need this Christmas.

Here are some examples of items you could donate to this amazing cause:

  • Canned food (for example Spaghetti, baked beans, corn)
  • Long-lasting Sweet Treats (Chocolates, Long Lasting Sweets, Biscuits)
  • Packages of dried goods (for example rice or pasta)
  • Toiletries (like deodorant)
  • And anything else that will bring families Christmas joy!

If you are able to donate, please send the items with your child to school before 4 December. Our council members will collect these from them and donate them to the Salvation Army who will be very grateful for your support.

Kind Regards,

Ethan du Toit, Ella Irving & Saya Lang

On behalf of the Student Council

Travelwise news
Thank you to our Glamorgan School community who are now finding more Travelwise options of getting to and from school. In particular the new walking school buses that are now active. Thank you to the bus drivers!
Due to this action we have been awarded a Silver Status for our school!

Scholastic Book Orders

Tomorrow, Friday 20th November, is the last day to order from Issue 8. This is the last order for 2020.

Attention any catering company within the Oneroa Kāhui Ako who can cater for 300 plus people

Our schools in the Oneroa Kāhui Ako (Long Bay College, Long Bay Primary, Glamorgan, Torbay, Sherwood, Oteha Valley and Northcross Intermediate) will be holding a Teacher Only Day on 1st April 2021 and would like to provide lunch for the attendees. We will have approximately 350 people attending and would like some kind of packed lunch that can be either delivered to one venue if we remain in Covid Alert level 1, or to each school instead if we are at Alert level 2. If we should move to Alert Level 3 then the day would be cancelled. Could this be your company? If so please contact either Rose Neal at Oteha Valley School (09 477 0033) or Janet Pinchen at Glamorgan School (09 473 6453).

Term dates 2021

When teachers settled on a new collective agreement with the Ministry of Education in 2019 an Accord was also negotiated which would give a further 8 days over the following 3 years when schools can close to provide release time and professional development for teachers. Four of these days will be used in 2021.
