Term 2 ends at 3pm on Friday 9th July

Please note: School will be closed next Friday 4th June for a Teacher Only Day and Monday 7th June for Queen’s Birthday public holiday

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Pink  Shirt Day
The children enjoyed Pink Shirt Day last Friday and a lot of fun was had whilst delivering a serious anti bullying message at the same time. We also raised $285 for the Mental Health Foundation – thank you very much.
Whole School Assembly tomorrow Friday 28th May

Our whole school assembly tomorrow Friday 28th May will be led by Hapori (Team 3) at 2pm in the school hall and everyone is welcome to attend.

End of day drop off zone

From Monday 31st May all children waiting to be picked up from the drop off zone after the gates open at 3:15pm will be kept on the top playground until just before 3:15. This is a safety measure as currently they are running and playing in the drop off zone, climbing on the clothing bin and near the road which is unsafe.

Health Survey

Every two years, we are required to consult with the community on aspects of the Health Curriculum. This year we are asking you for 10 minutes of your time to complete an online survey. Your responses and feedback are important and help us to plan our future Health and PE programmes.  The survey is now open and will close on Friday 11th June at 9pm and you can access it through the link below. If you need a hard copy of the survey please ask at the school office.

World-A-Thon Fundraiser

This year’s a-thon is a World-a-thon and last week your child brought home their fact sheet to learn and a sponsor sheet. The testing day is Thursday 9 June, so just after Queen’s birthday weekend, and children will have until Friday 25th June to gather their sponsorship funds following the testing day. We do not encourage children to go ‘door knocking’ and prefer that you monitor the soliciting of sponsors. Donations are welcomed should you not approve of gaining sponsorship.  We appreciate your assistance in this regard. Please complete the sponsor sheet and send this to school on the test day.

Thank you for supporting the World-A-Thon, raising money for the school and increasing your child/ren’s knowledge at the same time!

School Cross Country Thursday 10th June

The whole school will be participating in our cross country run on Thursday 10th June (save day Friday 11 June). The children will run a course around our school grounds adapted for their age. You are all welcome to come along and cheer the children on.  Children run in age groups as below. Please note that races will not run according to a timetable – a race will start after the last runner has finished the previous race. There is no set time for a race.

From this event we will select our school cross country team from the 8,9 and 10+ year groups to compete at the interschools cross country races on Wednesday 30 June (save day 8 July) at Long Bay Regional Park.

The children will be sitting in age lines on their chairs in the middle of the field supervised by teachers. Children who need to leave the field are directed down a chute where they will be given a pass to leave the area. On their return they will need to give back the pass so that we can account for where the children are.

It is recommended that children bring old clothes to school that are suitable to run in (a change of clothes is advisable) and also warm clothes and a rain coat to wait in.

If the weather is not good and the cross country is postponed to 11 June, a message will be left on the information line, extension 2. Please note there will not be anyone available to take phone calls until the office opens at 8am. If both days are cancelled due to bad weather then we will run the races as and when we can fit them into the school day.
