Term 2 ends at 3pm on Friday 9th July

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Olympic Ambassador visit

Richie Patterson is an Olympic Ambassador for the NZ Olympic Committee and has been a Commonwealth and Olympic NZ competitor (Olympian 1072). He has won Gold and Silver medals at previous Commonwealth Games for weightlifting. He currently is a coach for NZ Olympic competitors and will be heading to Tokyo this year.
He is a parent of one of our children and looks forward to being involved in our school community to motivate children into striving to always do their best.
Richie spoke to some of our children this week about his journey to highlight the Olympic Values (Excellence, Respect, Friendships and Resilience). His presentation was motivating, emotional and encouraging. He spoke of goals, and the length of time it takes to achieve them sometimes. He says he strives for excellence in some form every day. Thank you so much for coming Richie!

World-A-Thon

The children completed their World-A-Thon test yesterday and sponsor sheets should now be coming home again with the number of correct answers and teacher signature at the bottom.  The children now have until Friday 25 June to gather their sponsorship funds. Please put the sponsor sheet and money in an envelope, clearly labelled and send to school .  Alternatively,  funds can be deposited into the school account (ASB 12 3080 0059486 00) with the reference AThon and your child’s name and the sheet sent into the office with ‘paid online’  written on it.

Thank you for supporting the World-A-Thon, raising money for the school and increasing your child/ren’s knowledge at the same time!

Whole School Assembly Friday 18th June and Friday 25th June

We are hopeful that the hall ceiling will soon be fixed and our whole school assembly at 2pm on 18th June will be taken by Rangatiratanga (Team 6) as originally planned.

Hapori’s (Team 3) assembly that was postponed will be held at 2pm on Friday 25th June. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Health Survey

Every two years, we are required to consult with the community on aspects of the Health Curriculum. This year we are asking you for 10 minutes of your time to complete an online survey. Your responses and feedback are important and help us to plan our future Health and PE programmes.  The survey is now open and will close tomorrow Friday 11th June at 9pm and you can access it through the link below. If you need a hard copy of the survey please ask at the school office.
Scholastic Book Orders
The last day for orders from Issue 4 is tomorrow Friday 11th June.
PhotoLife photos – online orders now open

Photo Access Key slips for individual, family and class photos taken this term were sent home last week. Please note the ‘free delivery’ time period for parents to place orders closes at midnight on Sunday 27th June.  You can order photos after this date but the delivery is not free. All orders go through PhotoLife – the school takes no orders or money for photos.

Building works

We have been approved two relocatable classrooms due to roll growth by the Ministry of Education and work has now begun to get the building onsite. The classroom will be an open plan teaching and learning space suitable for two classes of children and two teachers. It will be located in the grassed area between room 21 and the pool and will face room 21. This area is now fenced off until the classroom is complete which is anticipated to be less than a term.

Congratulations August!
Many congratulations to August Xiao who, along with his teammate, was awarded 2nd place in the U13 Boys’ Teams at the 2021 Northern Region Team Championships at the Waikato Table Tennis Association last weekend.
Entry gate by the caretakers shed
Please note that whilst we have contractors and equipment arriving at school in the mornings, the area around the caretakers shed will not be available for access before school and therefore the gate will be locked. Please tell your child/ren, or drop off your child if in a car, further down the drop off zone where there is another gate by the shelter or outside the hall where there is a gate at each end by the hall gardens.

Annual Report

The school’s annual financial report for 2020 is now complete and available on the school website under the Parent Information tab should anyone wish to read it.
