Term 2 ends at 3pm on Friday 9th July

Kia ora koutou.  Hello everyone.

Whole School Assembly tomorrow 18th June (Team 6) and 25th June (Team 3)

Rangatiratanga (Team 6) will be leading our whole school assembly tomorrow Friday 18th June at 2pm in the school hall.

Hapori’s (Team 3) assembly will be held at 2pm on Friday 25th June.

The children completed their World-A-Thon test last week and sponsor sheets were sent home with the number of correct answers and teacher signature at the bottom.  The children now have until Friday 25 June to gather their sponsorship funds. Please put the sponsor sheet and money in an envelope, clearly labelled and send to school .  Alternatively,  funds can be deposited into the school account (ASB 12 3080 0059486 00) with the reference AThon and your child’s name and the sheet sent into the office with ‘paid online’  written on it.

Thank you for supporting the World-A-Thon, raising money for the school and increasing your child/ren’s knowledge at the same time!

Parent/Teacher/Child Discussions and mid year reports
On Monday 28th June your child’s mid year report will come home. Please check your child’s bag. The mid year report is designed to inform you about where your child is in relation to the New Zealand Curriculum.
Feedback from last year’s simplified report was that parents and caregivers liked the more succinct information along with more time to meet the teacher. Therefore the format of the report is slightly different to previous years and the discussions will again be held over several afternoons and for 15 minutes per family.
Your feedback was also that parent discussions in term 1 and 2 are more useful than term 4 as meeting earlier in the year gives teachers, parents and children time to work on any goals discussed. Term 4 seems too late as the year has almost finished so a written report to end the year is best.
Therefore, in term 3 we will hold Sharing the Learning which is an open afternoon for all family and whanau to come along and see what their child/ren are learning at school and another written report will be sent in term 4 with parent discussions only for those who feel they need one.
This term we are offering discussions again on:
  • Tuesday 29th June between 3:15pm and 6:00pm,
  • Wednesday 30th June between 3:15pm and 5:30pm and
  • Tuesday 6th July between 3:15pm and 5:30pm.
The link and code to make a booking for a discussion is below:        Code: 7rbn9

School Cross Country

Well done to everyone who took part in the cross country this year — some children had personal goals to reach and they were so proud when they achieved them. It was a great effort. Good luck to the team who will represent our school at the inter schools cross country run on 30th June. All the children were amazing, not only in their own races but giving support and encouragement to others too. Our winners are listed below.

Well done Mathex Teams

On 15th of June, some of Glamorgan School’s top Year 6 mathematicians participated in the Junior Mathex competition at Northcross Intermediate School. Glamorgan entered three teams which included the following students: Christopher Rawles, Emilia Li, Levi Pule, Ethan Radford, Freya Walker, Ryan Phillips, Alex Van Lierde, Linn Maung, Lucia Sanna, Hayley Miller and Max Hall. Unfortunately, Abby Arona was not able to compete on the day.

Mathex is fast-paced and very challenging. While our teams did not place, they represented the school superbly. Lucia Sanna received a prize for demonstrating excellent commitment and courtesy. Congratulations to all of the students involved. (Sharon Topliss, Teacher In Charge)
Congratulations and well done Year 6 Choir
Thank you and congratulations to the Year 6 choir for a wonderful performance and for representing Glamorgan School so beautifully at the the Northern Bays Schools Performing Arts Festival at the Bruce Mason Theatre in Takapuna last night.
