End of Year Date and Time
School will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday 16th December for the end of our 2021 school year. This includes bubble classes and the school office.
Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up from school as there will be no staff here in the afternoon.
Term 1 2022 starts at 9am on Tuesday 8th February.
Our office staff are part time and do not work in the school holidays.
The office will open again on Thursday 3rd February and Friday 4th February from 9am to 12:00pm for payment of donations, outdoor education activities etc.
Please note: the school no longer sells stationery. This will be available through OfficeMax – see below. Online orders open from 14th December
Kia ora koutou. Hello everyone.
This will be the final newsletter for this year. We will be in touch before school starts in 2022 with any specific information relating to whichever traffic light Auckland is in by February and how this affects school. If there is anything urgent it will come to you via school email.
There is quite a bit of information this week especially around reports, stationery for next year and returning devices if you borrowed one from school. See also the date for Meet the Teacher next year which is in the very first week on 10th February.
End of year reports and collection of belongings and reports if your child is not at school
Your child’s stationery list for 2022 and the letter containing information about donations, Mathletics, Reading Eggs, class consumables and any other information pertaining only to your child’s team next year will come home with their report and class placement sheet on 13th or 14th December.
Online stationery orders through OfficeMax will open on 14th December. You will be able to reuse some items not used this year as you can amend the stationery order to not include these items if necessary.
If your child has not returned to school the teachers will put any belongings into a named bag along with their report and class placement sheet for 2022. These can be collected from the hall between 10am and noon on Tuesday 14th December. If you have all your child’s belongings now at home but your child is not coming to school, then you can also collect their report from the hall on 14th December. Any remaining reports will be posted. Please use the named entry and exit doors to the hall, keep a physical distance between yourself and other people, wear a mask and scan in when collecting anything from the hall. Outside of these times do not enter the hall as this is used by one of our bubble classes. All items will have been taken away after noon.
Only reports, stationery lists and class placements will be posted – belongings that are not collected will be kept at school.

Returning school devices loaned out for distance learning
School devices and their chargers loaned out for distance learning now need to be returned.
Students back on-site for learning
If your child is bringing their device to school for their ‘on-site learning’ day then they can leave it at school with their teacher on Wednesday 8th (Years 1, 3 and 6) or Thursday 9th (Years 2, 4 and 5). Please make sure the charger is returned as well!
Students still learning from home
These devices need to go to the school office in a named bag (student name and room number) along with the charger. There will be containers outside the office to place the devices in. These can be returned between 10am and 2pm.
Around 200 devices have been loaned out and it will take us a while to sort through them and put them back into classrooms before the end of the year. We appreciate your support in getting the devices and chargers back to school by the end of next week.
The first batch of calendar orders arrived today and we will be sending them home with children as they arrive over the next few days. Please check your child’s bag regularly if you placed an order.
All lost property will be out in the school hall on Monday 13th December and Tuesday 14th December between 10am and noon. Please follow the instructions above for entering and exiting the hall, wear a mask and scan in please. Outside of these times please do not enter the hall as it is used by a bubble class – we will leave the lost property box outside the hall door.
The first day in 2022 for orders is Monday 14th February.
No more library books will be issued this year. Please have a good look at home and send all library books back to school as soon as possible.

Meet the teacher evening 10th February 2021
One of the first whole school events next year is Meet the Teacher Evening on 10th February 2022 – you should go to your child’s classroom. We would really like to start the year by seeing as many of you as we can and it will be a great way of seeing the classroom space your child will be in, including the two shared spaces with year groups other than year 1 in them – room 16 as a year 4 shared class and our brand new double space classroom, room 26, which is for year 6 children next year.

Thank you for all your support during the second half of this year, we certainly didn’t think school would be so deeply affected when we went into lockdown in August. To the year 6 children and families whose association with Glamorgan School is coming to an end, we wish you all the best for the future. To the rest of our families, have a safe and happy holiday, and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.
