Kia ora Glamorgan whānau,
You may have recently heard in the media about the changes to the New Zealand English and Mathematics curriculum, which are being introduced in phases. These updates are designed to provide clearer learning objectives and a more structured approach to teaching these core subjects. The pace of these changes has been fast, and our teachers are working incredibly hard to ensure they are well-prepared to support our tamariki.
For our students, this means a more focused approach to learning in English and Maths, with an emphasis on building strong foundational skills. For parents, it may mean some differences in how learning is structured, assessed and reported. Our goal is to ensure these changes positively impact our students, and we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible.
As the Minister of Education releases more details, we will continue to keep you informed. In the meantime, please know that our teachers are dedicated to providing your children the best possible learning experience. Thank you for your ongoing support.
On another note, we are looking forward to enjoying the beautiful sunshine this time next week as we come together for the Great Glamorgan Get-Together! Mark your calendars and be sure to join us for this special event—an opportunity for us to connect, have fun, and enjoy each other’s company as part of the Glamorgan School whānau. We can’t wait to see you there!
Ngā mihi nui,
Anna-Marie McAleer
