Kia ora Glamorgan Whānau,
As we approach the final two weeks of Term 1, I encourage you to take a moment to connect with your child and reflect on their experiences. Ask them about their highlights of the term and discuss potential goals for Term 2. These goals can be tailored to their age and individual needs, encompassing academic, social-emotional, or physical development (e.g., joining a sports team, reduced time with devices, daily practice of reading, getting quicker at basic facts, playing an instrument, making a new friend). Remember, the focus is on fostering growth and embracing new opportunities.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the Rob Cope evening! I was incredibly proud to learn that Glamorgan had the largest parent representation. This demonstrates our collective commitment to working together to ensure our children's online safety. Rob's presentation was filled with valuable insights. The phrase "Disconnect to Reconnect" particularly resonated with me. In our increasingly digital world, it's easy to become distracted by our devices. I've personally reflected on my own habits and the importance of intentionally putting my devices aside to give my loved ones my undivided attention.
During Rob's presentation, he highlighted the Dove campaign, "The Cost of Beauty", which powerfully illustrates the negative impact of unrealistic beauty standards and social media on young people's self-esteem and mental health. I was deeply moved when I first watched this video, and tears came to my eyes. Later that evening, I shared it with a few girlfriends, prompting important conversations with my friends who also have daughters. It's a stark reminder of the challenges our children face and the importance of coming together as a community to protect them.

Rob provided attendees with a comprehensive parent checklist, which I have attached to this newsletter. If you could not attend, I strongly recommend reviewing and working through this checklist. The "Connection and Family Plan" section is particularly crucial for establishing supportive routines at home.
We have recently been made aware that some families using Hotmail email addresses may be missing important communications from Glamorgan staff due to emails being routed to spam folders. Please take a moment to check your spam folder and mark our school's email address as "not spam" to ensure you receive all future communications.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us should you require any support or information.
Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
Ngā mihi nui,
