Well, what a truly wonderful and successful Term 1 it has been! We celebrated in style today with a fantastic Superhero Day, and I must say, our students are all absolute superheroes in their own right!

This term has been filled with incredible learning and progress across all areas, and it's a great time to celebrate those achievements. Please take a moment over the holidays to chat with your child about their personal highlights from the term. Perhaps you could also think together about some exciting goals they might like to set for Term 2.

Looking ahead, we have our important Parent-Teacher Discussions scheduled for Wednesday, May 7th, and Thursday, May 8th. Booking times are now open through Hero, so please log in and secure a slot that works for you. These discussions are a valuable opportunity to connect with your child's teacher and discuss their learning journey. We truly achieve the best outcomes for our learners when we all work together as a team.

If you would like to speak with one of our specialist teachers (ESOL, Art, Music, STEM), please feel free to email them directly to arrange a suitable meeting time on the 7th and 8th. Their email addresses can be found on our school website.

My husband and I are heading off to do the Tongariro Crossing during the break. I can’t wait to spend some time in the beautiful outdoors! Whatever you and your family do during the break, be safe, and enjoy the time to relax and connect.  We are so glad you are part of the wonderful Glamorgan whānau, and we look forward to welcoming you back for Term 2!

What a great way to finish up the term! There is a superhero in all of us. 

A huge thank you to all the amazing Glamorgan families who joined us for the Shore to Shore run last Sunday! The sunny weather couldn't have been better. It was fantastic connecting with so many students and families afterwards, especially over a well-deserved ice block! We were thrilled to see our participation more than double from around 20 in 2024 to just over 40 this year. Let's aim high – maybe we can hit 80 participants in 2026!

A further thank you to our teacher, Mr. Nolan, for organising the registrations!

While a PlayStation offers distraction, a deck of cards invites eye contact, laughter, and presence. It taps into a child’s deepest psychological need: to feel seen and valued.

Every shuffle, every shared win or loss, builds emotional intelligence, resilience, and trust. These are the moments that shape secure attachments and lasting memories—far more rewarding than any digital high score.

When you sit across the table, you’re not just playing a game—you’re saying, you matter to me.

Congratulations to our 7 Glamorgan Year 4 and 5 Girls (Ellie, Esther, Iva, May, Olivia, Scarlett, Stella) who were awarded the ECB U7-U9 T-ball Top Team.

So proud of the girls! They went from knowing nothing to being able to play, learn from their failures, and improve. Sometimes, they lost the game, but they still enjoyed playing with a smile on their face. I hope they continue next season.

We are a Mitey School, meaning we take a whole-school approach to mental health education. Through Mitey, students develop the knowledge and skills to understand and manage their emotions, build resilience, and support one another.

We're so excited to be gearing up for the 2025 netball season, and we're thrilled your child will be representing Glamorgan School!

As you know, our younger players in Years 1-4 typically wear a Glamorgan School T-shirt with shorts or a skort, while our Years 5 and 6 players wear a netball dress. We're working on updating our sports uniforms to reflect our new branding, but unfortunately, these won't be available for purchase before the season starts. So, we want to make sure we have enough uniform stock to cover immediate needs. 

To help us manage this process, please take a moment to complete this quick Google Form. It simply asks whether your child already has their playing uniform for the season or if you'll be needing one in the coming weeks.

Your input is really valuable in ensuring everyone is able to play in the correct uniform. If any families have old uniforms that are no longer needed, we have a donation bin in our office, and we would greatly appreciate any gently used items.

Thank you for your continued support of FOTS events throughout Term 1 of 2025. Your support means that in turn, we can support the tamariki and kaiako of Glamorgan School. 

Morning Drop-Off:
Between 8:15 am and 9:15 am, families cannot park in the lane closest to the school. This lane is for through traffic only.
Please ensure last-minute tasks like applying sunscreen, closing backpacks, and sharing reminders are done before entering the drop zone. This helps keep traffic flowing smoothly.

Afternoon Pick-Up:
The drop zone is closed from 2:30 pm to 3:10 pm.

Please ensure all vehicles are parked in designated spots—not on curbs or walkways. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe and running smoothly. 

Looking for a fun activity for the school holidays? There are a few places left in Torbay Sailing Club's Learn to Sail Courses.  It's a great course where they will all have fun, meet new friends and learn new skills.  The programme is for children aged 9 to 13 years.  Each course is limited to a very small class of just ten sailors at a time.

Holiday Courses:
