It has been another vibrant week here at Glamorgan. It is always a pleasure to walk through the corridors and see our tamariki settled into their learning and showing such high levels of engagement. These weeks of the term are vital for cementing the routines and relationships that make our school a successful place to learn.
A massive thank you to our wonderful teacher, Kirsty Hewitt, for her incredible organisation and support in making our Netball trials happen. We are so fortunate to have so many keen players interested this year!
While it is exciting to see such high participation, we recognise that trials can be challenging times. Not making a certain grade or being on a different team than their friends can be disappointing for some. We ask for your support in helping our kids navigate these feelings.
Learning to manage disappointment is a healthy, vital part of building resilient young athletes. These experiences are a "safe" way for children to develop the grit and sportsmanship they will need for future challenges. Please also encourage your children to review the Northern Bays Schools Sports Code of Conduct (attached below and found on our website). This code outlines the expectations for our students to ensure they represent Glamorgan with pride and integrity.
I am really looking forward to our Great Glamorgan Get Together after school today! This is a fantastic chance for our community to relax, connect, and have some fun together. It’s the informal conversations and shared laughs that make our school such a special place, so please make sure you drop by!
On a closing Health and Safety note, you will see that we have placed orange traffic cones in the far-right lane of the drop zone. We ask that you please:
- Park strictly within the yellow lines: When vehicles park past the end of the yellow line, they obstruct access for other parents and create a bottleneck.
- Do not wait on Glamorgan Drive: Please do not stop and wait in the middle section of Glamorgan Drive for the drop zone to open. This is not safe.
We have received complaints about this, and both the Police and Auckland Transport have contacted us to remind our families of the safety hazard. Let’s work together to keep our roads flowing and our children safe.
Have a wonderful, safe weekend ahead!
