It's lovely to see the sunshine peek through this week, and our school made it even brighter today with all the kids wearing yellow to support Daffodil Day. The cheerful yellow outfits lit up our classrooms and warmed our hearts as we came together for a great cause.

We're thrilled to share that the money raised will go directly to the Cancer Foundation, helping them continue their vital work. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed with gold coin donations—your generosity is greatly appreciated!

We know mornings can be busy, and we sincerely appreciate parents trying to get their children to school on time. If your child happens to be late, please remind them to visit Mrs. Copeland's window (across from the junior play area) to check-in. This step is crucial in ensuring that all students are accounted for.

We understand how distressing it can be to receive a notification from the school that your child is not in attendance, especially after you’ve dropped them off. By working together, we can make sure the day starts smoothly for everyone.

This Saturday is our much-anticipated Beats by Bingo evening! We are looking forward to a fun-filled night with our fabulous parent community. A huge thank you to our Friends of the School (FOTS), who have worked tirelessly to organize this event.

The FOTS funds raised throughout the year go a long way in supporting the school’s ability to offer ongoing valuable resources like iPads and Chromebooks, additional teacher aides, and special projects such as equipment for our PlayPod and long-term goals like sunshades for our play structures. We’re excited for a fantastic night, and I can’t wait to see you all there!

We know many of you are stopping on the right hand side of the drop off zone to let your children out in the morning due to the fact that there is limited space on the left hand side. If you do this, please accompany your child across the drop off zone and return to your vehicle. There is no supervision during this time and small children can be difficult to see as cars reverse in and out of parking spots. Ideally all cars would pull in on the left side in the morning, children would exit the vehicle and then the vehicle moves off. 

NETBALL SUCCESS
We are very proud of our Year 6 Netball 1st Team, who completed the season in second place! The final game was a titanic battle, with our girls challenging Murrays Bay Primary to the final moment. The team demonstrated improved skills, commitment, and the utmost respect for the other team. AWESOME work team!

TAEKWONDO WINNER
Congratulations to Kainoa Saboori, who won 2x gold medals in the Taekwondo National Tournament in Tauranga last weekend.

He won gold in sparring for his weight class and Poomsay (Pattern) for his category.  Well done, Kainoa!

Tomorrow is Bingo Night, Baby!
We can NOT wait, this is going to be one fun night, that much we guarantee! With over $10,000 worth of prizes and auction items, you are not going to want to miss out! Bingo Night is one of our main fundraising events for 2024. We are hugely appreciative of the school community getting in behind this event and supporting FOTS, so that FOTS can support Glamorgan School!

End of Term 3 Pizza Lunch
By popular demand, we will be opening orders for our end of term pizza lunch on Monday 9th of September. This gives students the opportunity to pre-order a pizza lunch that will be delivered to them on the last day of Term 3 - Friday 27th September. Keep your eyes on our Facebook page, and your email inbox for instructions on how to place your orders. 

Next FOTS Meeting
FOTS Meeting #8 - Monday 16 September, 7pm. We would love to see you there! 

 If you park on Glamorgan Drive, especially around 132 - 140, please ensure you are not blocking our neighbors' driveways, parking on/across the footpaths, or stopping on the yellow lines. Auckland Transport (AT) has been visiting our area and talking to our neighbours and us and will ticket any vehicles that are parked illegally. We value everyone in our neighbourhood and want to maintain respectful relationships with all the homeowners across from the school.

The AT bus zone should also be avoided for pick-up. The Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004, clause 6.8, states that road users must not park, stand, or stop on or within 6m of a bus stop sign. We want to be considerate of our neighbors and fellow drivers while ensuring the streets and pathways are safe for students traveling home.

Pick-up Routines

We want to keep all our children safe, so we ask for your support and patience when picking up your child after school. 

Please note - vehicles should be parked in designated parking spots, not on the curb or walkway. 

 

We can make the after-school transition time safe and swift if we all unite!

Next Tuesday 3 September will be team photos including sports teams, Librarians, Kapa Haka and Road Patrol. Please ensure you any uniform required for these photos.

On Wednesday 4 September will be the sibling photos as well as the new entrant classes and portraits.  If you would like your children to have a photo together please complete the form below by Monday 2 September. Please note these photos are for Glamorgan School students only.
