Kia ora whānau,
We are excited to share that Katie Elliott has been appointed as the new Presiding Member of our Board. Katie has been a valued board member since the last election, bringing care, commitment, and a deep passion for our school’s success. We also want to extend our deepest thanks to Ian Carmichael for his leadership and dedication during his time as Presiding Member. His contributions to the governance of Glamorgan School are truly appreciated.
In New Zealand, school boards play a crucial role in shaping the direction of schools. They are responsible for governance, ensuring the school meets the needs of all students, setting policies, and overseeing financial and strategic planning. This is an election year, and we encourage you to start thinking about standing for election. We value diverse skills and perspectives on the board, and collaboration is key to its success. Elections occur on the 17th of September (Term 3, Week 10). More details will be shared closer to the election.
Continuing on the theme of school governance, all of our school policies can be found on SchoolDocs, and various policies will be reviewed throughout the year. We encourage our community to participate in this process—your voice is important! Attached is an information sheet on how to be part of the review.
The current policies under review are:
Health, Safety & Welfare
Safety Management System
Risk Management
Healthcare

I know our FOTS team is working hard organising the Great Glamorgan Get Together. They are seeking volunteers to help with the event. We’d greatly appreciate help from any of our community members. Please use this LINK to sign up.
Wishing you all a wonderful sunny weekend ahead!
Ngā mihi nui,
