Principal's News

Kia ora, Glamorgan Whānau,
One of the first things that struck me when I was interviewing for the Principal role at Glamorgan School was how the Board and staff described it as a truly special place – a close-knit community. Since joining, I've consistently heard the same sentiment from everyone I meet when I tell them where I'm the Principal. It’s clear that Glamorgan has a unique and wonderful community feel.
Last weekend's planting day on Sunday was another powerful testament to this. Seeing so many of you – students, families, and community members – come together for our school was inspiring and truly exemplified that strong community spirit.
This weekend, we're excited for another chance to connect at FOTS Bingo! It will be a fantastic evening of fun with Glamorgan's parents and friends, and another prime example of our special community here.
Our Friends of the School (FOTS) group deserves an enormous amount of appreciation. In my 25 years in education, FOTS has got to be one of the most committed parent groups I've ever seen! The hours they dedicate to organising events throughout the year are simply tremendous. The funds raised from these events aren't just for special projects like picnic tables, shade sails, and additional books; they also provide crucial opportunities for extra staffing resources and support with day-to-day teaching materials.
This year, Matariki is observed from June 19th to 22nd, with a national public holiday on Friday, June 20th. Matariki is a special time for us to come together as a community, reflecting on the past year, celebrating the present, and looking forward with hope to the future. It's a time to remember loved ones who have passed, give thanks for the harvest, and set aspirations for the year ahead. Make sure to join us this Wednesday at 7 am for our Matariki breakfast in the Hall!

A heartfelt thank you, Glamorgan, for being such an outstanding community! I am incredibly proud to lead it every day. Mā te kotahitanga e whai kaha ai tātou ~ In unity, we truly find strength.
See you at Bingo!
Ngā mihi nui,
